   Tibetan Terrier Tribune January 2005

Welcome to our first issue of the new year!!!  2005 is here and there are so many things I want to do with the magazine this year.  We have laid the groundwork for some great new pages to be added soon, and we will continue to bring you exciting new magazine content that promises to keep you visiting often!

Every time Marcia and I complete a new issue, I always tell her that it is my new all time favorite issue.  January is no exception...we began by agreeing not to do a lot with this issue, as we were busy with Christmas and the holidays.  We felt with both of us having just been blessed with new litters at our house, that we would rest and go with some simple graphics and design, however.... you can see that we could not stand it!!  We wanted you to have a fun issue and this issue turned out to be  everything you have grown accustomed to seeing!  We are committed to excellence and I truly believe that the "Tribune" is THE BEST online breed magazine on the web!!
December brought us many new TT friends and that was a wonderful Christmas gift!  Thank you to all of our new Tribune friends who were first time participants in our magazine.  Our Christmas Photo Contest wooed the judges with so many fabulous, adorable and downright impressive photos that judging was an enormous challenge.  I chose a group of two adults from the dog show world, and two children to judge the contest.  Here are winners!!

"Confessions and thoughts on growing up in a show dog home"

Always having puppies to hug and squeeze on.

Going through boxes of bandaids from all the puppy nips.

Having more than my share of girlfriends...let's face it, puppies and dogs are "chick magnets"!!

Never having a vacation that didn't involve riding with more than two dogs, or taking in a show as part of the vacation.

Constantly having to share your snacks.

Waking up to Maestro washing my face.

Having Hollister visit my new college dorm and christening it before he left!

Finding my favorite video equipment with the cords chewed through.

Having the corners of my books missing .

Stepping in a puddle of coke from one of the TTs trying to drink from a soda can.

Admiring all the autographed sports memorabilia on my walls from having placed a puppy with the owners of an NFL football team. Tickets to the games.

Having your mom show up at my marching band contest with two TTs who basically stole the moment!

Not being able to go anywhere without someone stopping us to tell us about their dog.

Not being able to go out to a restaurant without someone coming over to tell us about their dog they got from us.

Waving goodbye to all the cozy sit down restaurants when we are traveling with three TTs only to find ourselves hitting the drive thru and then walking them at rest stops when they all decide there is no way they will potty in foreign land.

Sharing our Florida condo with all the TTs who love to do that run and chase thing for two weeks straight!
Trying to ask my mom a question or get any of her time when we have puppies...the phone never stops ringing.

Constant cleaning , chores, and pick up, although I was never asked to do any of those things because my mom always respected my right to be a kid and enjoy my sports!
Staying up all night to help my mom deliver a litter when Caroline was sick.  It was actually one of my best memories.  We watched movies all night.

Having my 8th grade pool party and our ll yr. old golden deciding to do a cannonball in the pool!!
Constantly having dogs jumping in the pool, but only when they knew my mom wouldn't know...
Finding my favorite new jacket with the sleeve chewed off...how do they know it's your favorite? I still haven't figured that out.

Sitting down with my girlfriend to watch a movie and Micey climbing between us with his bones, toys and "snuggling' in for the movie...that's our favorite time.

Listening to dog story after dog story after dog story!

Telling dog story after dog story after dog story!

Having your teachers ask you every day at school about the new puppies and my mom bringing puppies or dogs to school every year from kindergarten to high school.
In sixth grade she did an hour presentation on showing and brought three dogs, it was very cool!

Seeing how much Micey misses me when I come home from college!

Send in a recommended book for the Tibetan Terrier Tribune Library, a Grooming Tip for the Grooming Page or an idea for one of the areas of the "Breeders Meeting Place" page (see those areas below) and for every submission you send in, your name will go into a drawing.  You can submit as many ideas as you like and  earn more chances to win. If you submit something that has already been submitted, you will still be put into the drawing for that idea.  No names will be attached to any of the ideas sent in unless you request credit for your idea.  All information already listed on these pages is exempt so do not send those in as ideas.
Please send all ideas to my son's college email, jshetler@depauw.edu The drawing will take place at his dorm floor meeting...this is a VERY neutral and fair place for the drawing to be held.  You may ask why I would offer so much for your ideas, and the answer is simple.  It means that much to me to be able to get tons of useful information out to our TT friends!  The information we decide to put on these pages will be at the editor's discretion and in keeping with our standards of excellence here at the "Tribune"

"Breeders Meeting Place" This is not a medical list nor will we put up any veterinary advice or practices. The "Tribune" will never give advice of any kind or on any subject matter.  We also do not make any endorsements (see editor page for disclaimers) It is merely a place to gather ideas from one another. Please submit your ideas by email and put the appropriate heading under which your ideas will be listed. You may or may not list your name with your submissions.
Here are the lists that you can contribute to:
Take Home Puppy Kits:
Things you include in your take home kits, presentation ideas, reading material, etc... I will put up a photo of my puppy take home kit which is very elegant as well as information on our keepsake baby bracelets.

1/8/2005  New Page Added A Round Of Appaws.... Please join in have some fun..... We know all TTs are famously fun, so if your TT has made it into the bright lights of the camera for a magazine, book or other published material, this is your chance to tell the TT world!  Maybe your TT has been in a television commercial...or possibly featured on a local news segment!!  Send in a brief write up about it so we can all share in your excitement!!  If you have a photo that is not copyrighted or permission to reprint then you may send a photo to go along with your news. This is a fun page....not a show page, so if your TT news is show related, then check the table of contents for the appropriate show news pages.

Dog Fancy's new magazine, "Dog Training Solutions" the newest magazine in their popular dog series.  He is pictured looking through the kitchen window saying....YO, I'm ready to come in now, and the article is about house training your puppy and not leaving them out alone...well, clearly it makes the point even though that's just Micey's way of ringing the doorbell!
Bonnie Nance is the photographer!!  She has many of her images in this new magazine, so check it out!!
