Our Breeding Ethics
And
Philosophies |
 |
We
are members of the Tibetan Terrier Club
of America (TTCA) and the all-breed
Packerland Kennel Club (PKC). Linda has
served as a Vice President of the TTCA
and as an officer/Board of Directors
member of the PKC. As members of the
TTCA, we support the TTCA "Guidelines
for Responsible Breeders" and we are on
the TTCA Breeder Referral List. We
encourage you to visit the TTCA website
to learn more about the TT parent club.
Our
puppies all receive daily handling from
the day they are born. We believe is
extremely important to take our puppies
to new environments and to meet other
people and carefully selected good
natured dogs of other breeds. We
believe that this is an important
foundation for developing the
personality of ach and every puppy.
We
will raise only as many litters as we
can give the proper time and effort to.
We are fortunate to have extended family
who love to help play with and socialize
our delightful young puppies.
We
believe that the focus of each litter
should be trying to produce high quality
TTs that will be an asset to the breed--TTs
that we can be proud of having bred. We
will not breed to produce "just another
litter."
SELECTION OF SIRES AND DAMS
When
selecting the sires/dams of our future
litters we follow a very high standard
of ethics.
1. All sires/dams MUST be champions.
Why? Well, if they are not good enough
to earn a championship they are not good
enough for our breeding program. We
believe in breeding high quality to high
quality to get high quality. In
addition to being champions, many of our
sires/dams have earned additional titles
including Best in Show, Specialty Best
in Show, Group awards, Register of Merit
awards, Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
awards, Obedience titles,and Agility
titles.
2.All of our sires/dams have passed CERF/CERF
eligible exams and /or ERG eye exams (or
the foreign equivalent of these exams).
3. All of our sires/dams have a
permanent OFA hip rating. In order to
get this they must be at least 2 years
of age. OFA will only give permanent
ratings to mature TTs, anything under 2
years is considered by OFA as being too
immature to be given a permanent hip
rating. We breed only mature sires and
dams, even though it means waiting
patiently for them to grow up to be at
least 2 before they can be used in our
breeding program.
The
OFA website lists OFA and CERF and other
info and we encourage you to check it
out to verify the hip and eye results on
our dogs or anyone else's at
