MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!

From…

The TIBETAN TERRIER TRIBUNE

December is magical, beautiful and VERY festive!  The holidays have a way of bringing out the beauty in so many people.  Christmas makes me want to bake, connect with old friends I haven’t seen for a long time, and give extra hugs to all of my family! I love the lights, glitter, decorations, and hustle bustle of the Holidays!!   Christmas is also a hard time for a lot of us because we miss our loved ones who are no longer here with us and we spend that extra bit of quiet time remembering all the happy times we shared together.

The dogs are busy gearing up for Old Saint Nick!  Glitzy’s shopping list is enormous and Caroline has already spent a small fortune on her with much left to buy!  All of the TTs enjoy new toys, beds, treats and as is the case with Glitzy….new clothes!  Is she the only TT running around with hoodies, t-shirts and faux fur jackets? I hope not!  Otherwise people will start calling us eccentric weird “dog people”!

The Tribune has been a big part of my Christmas both this year and last, and I hope you are enjoying this issue as much as I am.  My Christmas wish to all of you is that we will continue to use this Magazine as a way to come together and celebrate our incredible, quirky, and loving breed with laughter, joy and new friendships!

Our front cover story this month gives you an upclose look at one of the “greats” in our breed!  John & Joy George of Samsara Tibetan Terriers have shared much of their life with TTs and you will enjoy this heart to heart interview with John!  I would like to publicly thank The George’s for their willingness to share their thoughts about owning, showing and breeding.

Our back cover story is Part Two of Kevin Grew's series on "Bringing Up Puppy".  You will want to join her as she shares some of the questions that will surely arise as we are "bringing up puppies"! If you are just joining us in this series and missed her first part, then please click on this link to read Part One of "Bringing Up Puppy."

Our December contest is your opportunity to send us your favorite Christmas pose! Photos with Santa are ever popular as well as sleigh rides, poses by the decorated tree or any other festive photo of your TTs!!  You may send up to three photos for our December “Christmas with TTs “contest!! Please send them in jpeg format  for Marcia.

From all of us here at my house…God Bless each and every one of you and your precious Tibetan Terriers as you celebrate the wonder of Christmas!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Our Spotted Christmas Miracle!!!!

Three days before Christmas Eve, a Dalmation showed up at our house.  He was so underweight that it was painful to even look at his body.  I could hardly stand the pain he was in as his bones were protruding from his body so badly that it hurt him to sit or even lay down. Jeff and I agreed that we had never seen a dog this badly malnourished.  He would not come to us and was very unsure, however, he would eat his food we put on our porch for him three meals a day.  Our vet told us how to feed a starving dog.  We used vitamins, etc...
I put a crate on our front porch and filled it with blankets and covered it completely with a large furniture pad and placed his food bowls inside until eventually he never left his cozy new home.  When he would go to lay, his small crying voice would whimper in pain as he tried to nest himself without causing himself pain.
Lastnight we were able to pet him and actually get in the crate with him!  He has completely broken and stolen our hearts.  I don't think there are enough words I can use to describe how much the starvation has attacked him.  It hurts him to be patted anywhere but on the face.  My neighbors, who have rescued five large breed dogs, have taken him home with them today and are going to nurse him back to health.  They only live two doors down and were very anxious to help as they have a dalmation.
This dog is so incredibly beautiful when you can begin to look past his whithered starving body and the miracle is that we later heard that animal control officers as well as many other people have been trying to catch him for days and get him off the streets, however he would growl and escape....I can't tell you why he picked us as the only people to surrender himself to, but it was definitely our Christmas miracle this year.  He wanted to befriend us and we never pushed our love on him.  We just gave him what he needed which was food, warmth and very friendly voices.  Eventually he fell in love with our family.  Apparently all efforts over the past weeks by concerned people have not produced an owner for him, so we will be accepting any interested inquiries.  I know our neighbors are also contacting Dalmation rescue.  He will stay with our friends until he is completely ready to be adopted.
Our greatest Christmas gifts are the ones that are given freely and from the heart, and so this year, the greatest gift our family received was the love of a starving, hopeless spotted face and the greatest give we gave this year was to open our hearts to that precious boy who had all but given up on life.  He was our Christmas miracle this year!!
